In 2007, Cornerstone Church came into contact with the sudden influx of East African refugees being resettled in Pittsburgh. Seeing this rapidly growing population, the Church responded by partnering together to form the program, Transforming Hope, specifically designed to assist refugees and immigrants to become successful and self-sustainable in the United States. As the program has grown over the past couple of years, it also has grown to include weekly English classes, acculturation seminars, driver's education, child development classes, and more.
As the program continues to build and develop on its own, the Church strives to be an active partner and aid. It helps to provide a source of community partnership and networking, as well as offering a safe and trusting environment for children and adults in the population to come together, whether that be to worship, fellowship, or to come and receive help from friends.
If you're interested in assisting in our work, whether that be through donations of clothes or furniture, becoming a family or child acculturation mentor, or volunteering as an English tutor, please don't hesitate to contact us through email or by calling our offices.
